How to Cut Brownies in an 8×8 Pan

When baking brownies, it’s important to cut them neatly so they look beautiful and taste delicious. There are a few foolproof tricks to get that done, so you can bake as many batches of these treats as you want and be confident that your baked goods will be perfect every time.

Use a Paring Knife

When cutting brownies, the key is to use long confident strokes with your knife. This will ensure you get a clean cut.

You don’t want to make a mess of the cut with crumbs or sloppy edges, which will destroy your perfectly shaped brownies! The best way to prevent this from happening is to cool your brownies before you try to slice them.

Then, dip your knife in hot water and wipe it off between cuts to remove any crumbs that may be stuck on the blade. Repeat until you have a perfectly clean cut!

Paring knives are a staple in the kitchen for cutting in hard-to-reach places or tackling delicate tasks where precision is essential. They are also useful for coring, slicing or peeling vegetables and fruits.

Pizza Cutter

While a pizza cutter may seem like an odd choice for cutting brownies, it can actually be very helpful. They make sweeping cuts with less effort and cleanly cut through the gooey batter, making them easier to work with than a regular knife.

To use a pizza cutter to cut your brownies, start by spraying both sides of the blade lightly with cooking spray and then swipe the entire brownie with one firm, confident cut. Wipe the blade off between each cut and reapply cooking spray as needed.

A pizza cutter can also be used to slice tortillas into strips or quarters for fried salad toppings, quesadillas and more. They’re also great for chopping herbs or sheets of pasta, and they’re an excellent tool to have around the house for a variety of uses.

Nylon Knife

When it comes to slicing brownies, the key is to use the right knife and wait until they cool completely before cutting them. Otherwise, the brownies can get clumpy and fall apart as you cut them into squares.

One of the best ways to avoid a mess is by using a nylon knife. These knives are naturally nonstick and won’t tear the brownies as you make your cuts, which is a major plus.

Another easy way to cut brownies is by using a pizza cutter. Just like you would use a pizza cutter to cut square pieces of pizza, you can use this method to cut the perfect brownies.

A chef’s knife is also a great tool for cutting squares of brownies, but it does require some extra steps to make sure you get them right. You can spray the blade lightly with cooking spray before you make your first cut, and then wipe it off between each cut to prevent any sticky crumbs from sticking to it.

Parchment Paper

Parchment paper is a great tool for cutting brownies because it makes them easier to slice into bite-sized pieces. It also helps to prevent them from crumbling when sliced.

If you’re making brownies in a 8×8 pan, you can line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper and leave an overhang on all four sides. Then, you can fold each side of the parchment in a couple inches, and place it into the pan.

This method works for any size baking pan that has 4 sides (such as an 8×8 pan or a 9 by 13 pan). Just adjust the amount of overhang for each pan you’re using.

If you’re using a pizza cutter, spray both sides of the blade lightly with cooking spray and make one firm swipe across the width of your brownies to cut them into half. Wipe off the blade, spray it again and repeat until you’ve cut up all of your brownies.
